Physical Strength 1 - Introduction to Mind Body Training Courses

We will introduce you to the foundation postures of Physical Strength 1 and explore the 8 limbs of yoga. The foundation postures will be covered in detail, exploring anatomical structure, modifications, progressions and contraindications and how to use props. We will show you how regular group fitness equipment can be used as props in Yoga. The foundation module includes a practical observation, which is conducted over the two days.

Course Content:

Course Content includes:

  • Introduction to the foundation physical postures - yoga is like building a house, we must all start with the foundation postures to promote a strong, safe structure.
  • Anatomical review of physical postures - this will promote strict alignment, core stabilisation and precision in each pose, so postures are taught professionally and with understanding.
  • Adaptations for each posture so you can teach mixed abilities - all classes include mixed abilities and we will equip you with knowledge to offer a variety of modifications and progressions.
  • History of yoga - understand and respect the history, the traditions and the different styles.
  • Yoga and the fitness industry - understand the role of yoga in our busy lives, the extensive benefits and the difference between yoga in the fitness industry and yoga in a traditional studio.
  • Class planning - yoga classes are carefully structured and we will show you how to plan safe and effective classes to suit a range of levels and promote a range of benefits.
  • Relaxation - everybody benefits from relaxation and we will show you how to incorporate relaxation into all your classes to help manage stress and promote wellbeing.

Course assessment format:

The foundation module includes a practical observation, which is conducted over two days of the programme. Please note that all programmes request 100% attendance before certification can be granted.
