CYQ qualifications approved

The European Health and Fitness Association (EHFA) has now recognised the alignment of UK qualifications against the EHFA standards for Fitness Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, Aqua Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, which are themselves aligned to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The development comes after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between EHFA and SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure.

This means that the following CYQ qualifications will now benefit from EHFA approval. Certificates for these qualifications will (with immediate effect) carry the EHFA logo:

Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym (aligns to EQF Level 3 Fitness Instructor)
Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing ETM (aligns to EQF Level 3 Group Fitness Instructor)
Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Water Based Exercise (aligns to EQF Level 3 Aqua Fitness Instructor)
Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (aligns to EQF Level 4 Personal Trainer)

As recognition of EHFA grows around Europe and the brand becomes established, EHFA approval will become increasingly desirable for instructors wishing to work internationally. Learners who have achieved these qualifications are also eligible for membership of EREPs , the Europe-wide exercise register.
