Personal Trainers have been told to take responsibilty of the Country's health in the run-up to the London 2012 Olympics.
According to Nerio Alessandri, founder of Technogym, Personal trainers have a social responsibility to help tackle the country’s health in the run-up to London 2012, it has been claimed.
Alessandri made the claims during a visit to the capital to announce his company’s appointment as official equipment supplier to the Games.
In a special interview with FitPro, Nerio urged the fitness industry to take advantage of the opportunities 2012 will create.
He said “PTs are key to helping the UK be healthy. They are lifestyle managers and they should see the Games as a new frontier for the industry.”
For the full interview with Nerio, see the October/November issue of Fitpro Network.
He added: “I think it’s possible for PTs to become the new ‘doctors’ of obesity and disease prevention. Instead of just treating people through exercise, they should be more like lifestyle coaches, encompassing nutrition and attitude, as well as physical activity.”
