      Prerequisites for this course:

      • Currently attending Pilates classes on a regular basis or working with a Modern Pilates
        DVD for some time. This will ensure you are familiar with the format and style of a Modern

      • Apply for the blended learning pack at least 6 weeks prior to the course starting.
      • Completion of the blended learning workbooks prior to attending the first two theory days of the course.

      Course Content:

      The course is delivered via our unique blended learning programme which enables you to study some of the anatomy at home prior to attending the course. Once you have booked we will send you all your home study materials and guidance notes. It is important that you allow yourself plenty of study time prior to attending the course.

      The first two days of the course revise the blended learning with our tutor prior to sitting the YMCA Awards theory paper. The rest of the course focuses on the practical aspects of teaching modern Pilates Matwork class. Your tutors, who comprise of physiologist, physiotherapists and Pilates practitioners, will guide you through a combination of lectures workshops and home study.

      Teachers who have undertaken training with other organisations at Level 2 and 3 and who wish to gain the Diploma in Teaching Pilates (YMCA Awards) qualification, would qualify for a discount. This acknowledges the fact that they have already paid a substantial amount of money to train and bring skills and knowledge to the course that they have already gained.       Course assessment format:

      • Plan, teach and evaluate a Modern Pilates session.
      • Undertake YMCA Awards Principles of Fitness Level 2 theory paper (on the course) or provide evidence of current certification.
      • Undertake YMCA Awards Level 3 Knowledge theory paper (on the course) or provide evidence of current NVQ Level 3 theory.
      • Undertake YMCA Awards worksheets.
      • Undertake a Case Study and Progressive Programme on a client of your choice.
      • Bring a ‘client’ for the practical assessment.

      Please be aware that you will need to allow a minimum of 50 hours to study at home in your own time. We strongly recommend that you allow at least 4 weeks prior to the course commencing to complete your studying.

      Course Summary

      Now you have the opportunity to gain a qualification and feel confident with the advice and guidance you offer your class and clients.

      This specialist course focuses on the bio-mechanical and physiological changes that occur during the pre and post natal periods.  It will help  you to develop and teach clients within a one to one setting.  This course is very theory based however, adaptations for pregnancy will be explored for Pilates teachers, studio instructors, gym instructors and personal trainers.  The course adopts a case study approach which enables you to apply all the principles you learn on the course to individual clients/groups.  The course will enable you to teach safely and ensure safety to mother and baby while delivering an effective and enjoyable exercise session.

      On successfully completing this course you will not only be awarded a YMCA Awards Level 3 Award in Adapting Exercise for Ante Natal and Post Natal Clients but also entry onto REPs at level 3 and be able to access insurance.
